Axelle Charpentier joined J-PAL Europe in October 2010, where she is currently working on the randomized evaluation of the "Boarding Schools of Excellence" program. This program gives additional financial and human resources to boarding schools which serve qualified but underprivileged students.

She holds an MSc in Economics from the University of Edinburgh and an additional Masters’ degree in Economics and Public Policy from the Institute of Political Sciences in Paris. She previously worked as an intern at the Agence nouvelle des solidarités actives and at the French Ministry of Economy.
