Gaurav joined J-PAL South Asia in August 2011 and is currently a Research Associate on the Voting Information Campaign Project in Delhi. Gaurav has completed his M.Phil Economic Research from the University of Cambridge in 2011 and his M.Sc Economics from the London School of Economics in 2010. His research interests are to study the role of institutions (political and social) in influencing economic decisions and studying the applications of game theory in industrial organisation and international trade.
Gaurav interned for a summer with the New Policy Institute, London where he researched on 'The Role of the Public Sector in influencing Consumer Decisions- A Study of the National Health Scheme'. During the course of his B.A (Hons) Economics at the University of Delhi, Gaurav worked with the Food & Agricultural Organisation of the United Nations (UN-FAO) in Delhi, where he spent a summer researching on the issues of Crop Insurance and Rural Micro-Financing in India.
Gaurav has learnt Hindustani Classical Music for over 16 years and plays the harmonium and the piano. He has also performed in various concerts in India, Philippines and the UK.
