Shweta is currently working as a research associate on a J-PAL project aimed at improving the implementation of the National Rural Employment Guarantee Act. Prior to joining J-PAL, Shweta has worked as a consultant for the Government of India and for World Bank on decentralized poverty-alleviation programs and local governance strengthening projects. Her research interests include microfinance and gender issues, the role of governance and effective public goods delivery, and community driven development.
