Nikita currently works as a Research Associate on the Hyderabad Student’s Job Choice project, a study which explores the types of students who enter the government and private sectors.
Nikita received a B.A. in Economics and International affairs from George Washington University in 2007 and a Master’s of Public Administration from New York University in 2010. Her undergraduate thesis investigated the determinants of gender bias in India and her field work includes research on microfinance loan delinquency in Paraguay, the outcome of a UNICEF child empowerment program in Madhya Pradesh, and the impact of a UNCDF program aimed at achieving local economic development and food security in rural Nicaragua.
Her interests lie in gender rights and poverty reduction through health, education, and micro-credit programs. Prior to joining J-PAL, Nikita worked with EA Consultants on a study that explores women’s small business needs in Central and South America.
