Arindam Banerjee is a Project Manager (Policy) at J-PAL South Asia at IFMR and based out of the Chief Minister's Secretariat in Ranchi, Jharkhand. He manages the scale up of Targeting the Hard Core (THP) Program in Jharkhand. Additionally, he supports policy advocacy and helps forge new partnerships and collaboration with state government officials to disseminate and promote the use of scientific evidence based policymaking.
Prior to joining J-PAL South Asia, Arindam was associated with the Ministry of Rural Development, Government of India, working as a Prime Minister's Rural Development Fellow (PMRDF) in West Bengal. He supported and advised the government officials in effective implementation of federal and state level development policies including the Integrated Action Plan (IAP) for Maoist conflict-affected districts. Before that, he also worked briefly as a journalist with The Indian Express and a research consultant with Wizcraft Entertainment Limited.
Arindam holds a master's in public policy (MPP) from the Blavatnik School of Government, University of Oxford as a UK Government's Chevening-HSBC Scholar. He also holds an MA in media and cultural studies from Tata Institute of Social Sciences, Mumbai and a BA (Hons) in comparative literature from Jadavpur University, Kolkata.
