This position will serve as a data analyst for several research projects and will also support the overall mission of the Youth Policy Lab. Responsibilities include the following:

  • Perform a wide range of data cleaning and merging procedures and prepare data sets for various statistical analyses
  •  Assist with data analysis and preparation of results for memos, spreadsheets, and presentations targeting both policymakers and academic audiences
  • Conduct thorough and critical reviews of relevant literature
  •  If the position is filled at the intermediate level, you will also be responsible for supporting research design, determining and interpreting research results, and     independently writing up results of analyses 
  • Other responsibilities as assigned

Required Qualifications*

For associate-level: Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field with coursework in statistical analysis and some experience using Stata (preferred), R, SAS, or similar programming languages. 

  •  Typically we expect one year or less experience for the associate level. 
  • Extensive experience working with Stata, R, SAS, or similar programming languages may be considered in lieu of a degree.

For intermediate-level: Graduate-level degree in a relevant field with substantial coursework in statistical analysis and extensive experience using Stata (preferred), R, SAS, or similar programming languages

  • Typically we expect 2 to 3 years experience for the intermediate level. 
  • Solid foundation in applied econometrics or statistics, including multiple regression (experience or related coursework at the BA or MA level) 
  • Demonstrated interest in social policy 
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
  • Successful candidates will exhibit the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, handle multiple projects simultaneously, set priorities, and take initiative      while keeping supervisors and project leads informed

Desired Qualifications

  •  Experience working with large-scale, longitudinal, individual-level administrative datasets
  •  Coursework in public policy of education, health, social welfare, or criminal justice; coursework in program evaluation
