IPA-Philippines is looking to hire a Research Associate for one year to conduct process monitoring and help lead quantitative data collection and analysis of the first follow-up survey of the Land Reform Project. The study is a randomized control trial in partnership with the Philippine Department of Agrarian Reform to evaluate the impact formalizing property rights on agricultural investment, productivity, welfare, and gender dynamics within the household. The Research Associate will work closely with Principle Investigators Snaebjorn Gunnsteinsson (University of Maryland), Dodong Gordoncillo (University of the Philippines), Hillary Johnson (World Bank), Elizaveta Perova (World Bank) and the IPA-Philippines Research Manager and Country Director.

  • Monitoring compliance with the randomization in coordination with the Department of Agrarian Reform and conducting process monitoring of the intervention
  • Developing, field testing, and finalizing the follow-up questionnaire; managing translation into Tagalog and Bisaya
  • Programming the survey in SurveyCTO
  • Hiring, training, and managing survey enumerators in collaboration with the Field Manager
  • Overseeing daily data collection activities and ensuring adherence to data quality protocols, including data quality audits and frequency checks
  • Regularly processing, cleaning, and analyzing data collected through computer-assisted interviews using Stata
  • Liaising with the partner organization (the Department of Agrarian Reform) and other local counterparts as necessary
  • Regularly communicating updates and troubleshooting challenges with the Research Manager and PIs
  • Demonstrated proficiency in Stata and/or experience with data management and data cleaning
  • Experience with quantitative research, particularly with randomized controlled trials.
  • A Bachelor's or Master's degree in economics, business management, social sciences, public policy, political science or related fields
  • Excellent management and organizational skills along with strong quantitative skills;
  • Experience running a large-scale survey and managing the survey implementation is preferred, but not required
  • Experience with Computer-Assisted Interviewing is preferred, but not required
  • Demonstrated ability to manage high-level relationships with partner organizations
  • Strong presentation skills
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers
  • Flexible, self-motivating, able to manage multiple tasks efficiently, and a team player
  • Fluency and excellent communication skills in English.
