The Economic Growth Center (EGC) at Yale promotes the use of economics research to inform and promote policy that enables markets and states that empower all citizens. EGC is currently seeking a Senior Program Manager (SPM) to manage a portfolio of research and policy engagements in India, Nepal, and other countries under the direction of EGC Director. The SPM will provide operational direction, hands-on support and oversight to a set of activities based at Yale, but operating in close collaboration with other research institutions, particularly in India, Nepal, the U.S. and the U.K. The SPM will also play a key role in supporting ongoing research-policy partnerships and building new opportunities. This position will include significant travel to South Asia.

The SPM will lead programmatic management of a large portfolio of research, policy and training activities in coordination with faculty, office and field-based staff, and project stakeholders, advance project and initiative objectives, drawing in and synthesizing inputs from a range of team members and collaborators, manage sponsored awards, including being accountable for pre- and post- award compliance, forecast revenues and expenses and create complex budgets; make assessments, recommendations and decisions to allocate resources, develop proposals, publications, and other written communication materials, manage the design and delivery of policy conferences and other events, oversee and delegate responsibility for the grant submission process, including drafting or contributing content, preparing the budget, compiling other proposal components, and coordinating with counterparts for grant submission and identify and build opportunities to develop or expand research projects and other collaborations.

The SPM will provide strategic direction on international hiring, vendor agreements, MOUs, and other operational aspects of portfolio, provide management oversight to project staff, oversee recruitment related to the EGC Director’s research projects, including recommendations for hiring and onboarding processes for project staff and research fellows, create and implement system for close collaboration with research teams at other collaborating institutions including field activity management, fundraising and managing project resources, recruiting team members and support for events or workshops, travel to the field as needed to ensure robust management of program activities and negotiate and problem solve with external vendors and collaborators.

The SPM will expand partnerships between EGC, other Yale research centers and potentially other collaborating institutions on topics related to high quality research management, operations, and administration and develop and maintain other internal and external constituent relationships.
