Improving Opioid De-addiction Protocols in India

Drug addiction is a first-order public health issue in Punjab. The state government has recently expanded its efforts to address the problem by promoting access to de-addiction services. This project, in partnership with the Government of Punjab, will test several pilot interventions to facilitate de-addiction for opioid dependent individuals. Furthermore, the researchers will test how economic factors such as employment interact with access to treatment to facilitate individuals’ re-integration into society and reduce the risk of relapse into drug crime.
