Les recherches menées dans le secteur Marché du travail de J-PAL visent à aider les individus à accéder à des emplois de qualité. Teaching business skills to support microentrepreneurs

Business skills training programs increased microentrepreneurs’ use of business best practices, but in most cases, there were no significant changes in their profits. Alternative programs that are tailored to participants’ needs or foster an entrepreneurial mindset have shown more promising results than traditional programs. Read More

Changing resumes to reduce hiring discrimination

Randomized evaluations show strong evidence of hiring discrimination against minority and underrepresented groups in many countries, with most evidence so far coming from developed countries. Where it has been tested using randomization, removing identifying information on job applications had perverse effects on minority applicants if firms were already more likely to hire them or if firms discriminated on other characteristics after some information was removed, but more research is needed.
