Does Women's Leadership Matter in Law Enforcement: Evidence From Haryana
We aim to examine whether placing in supervisory positions in police stations improves outcomes for junior (particularly female) law enforcement officers as well as citizens. We request funding for a pilot to be carried out in two districts of Haryana in collaboration with government officials. We will use a combination of fine-grained administrative data as well as surveys to measure outcomes such as case registrations, assignments, and timeliness of police action. If the pilot results are promising, we hope to scale up the RCT across the state.
