Magdalena Valdés Lutz
Magdalena holds an MPA in Public and Economic Policy from the London School of Economics and Political Science and a Master of Science in Finance from Adolfo Ibáñez University. She joined J-PAL LAC in March 2011 as Policy and Training Manager. She began her career as the training manager of a microcredit program for the NGO Un Techo para mi País in Chile. After finishing her degree in Finance, she worked in the finance department of LAN Airlines in charge of pricing analysis for the cargo department. After this experience, she decided to change her career path to focus issues of economics and ethics. She joined the Economic Faculty of Alberto Hurtado University as the General Manager of the Corporate Integrity Project. This project aimed to assist public and private organizations to develop, implement, and evaluate their anti-corruption systems. During her study years in London, she had the opportunity to work as an external consultant for the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) analysing the impact of different Vocational Education and Training (VET) systems in Germany, England and Chile. Her areas of interest are related with gender issues, ethics and civil society empowerment.
