J-PAL South Asia at IFMR seeks to improve the effectiveness of poverty programs in South Asia by providing policy makers with clear scientific results that help shape successful policies to combat poverty. Based at the Institute for Financial Management and Research, in Chennai, J-PAL South Asia was established in 2007 due to the growth of J-PAL partnerships throughout South Asia. The Mulago Foundation has provided generous funding to J-PAL South Asia.
