Sobia Shadbar

Sobia Shadbar is a Senior Research Associate at J-PAL South Asia, where she works with the Social Networks Lab on research examining how social networks can be leveraged to address complex socioeconomic challenges. As a member of the Research group, she focuses on the Networks & Risk Sharing (NRS) portfolio, leading the data pipeline for a long-range panel study on networks and risk sharing in rural Odisha and supporting field experiments to improve uptake of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).

Prior to joining J-PAL South Asia, Sobia worked across academic, nonprofit, and corporate institutions in India and the United States, gaining five years of diverse research experience.

Sobia holds a Bachelor’s (Honours) degree in Economics, with minors in Psychology and Political Science, from [University name], and a Master’s degree in International Affairs, specialising in Global Economic Affairs and Development Economics, from Boston University.
