Supraja Thrilochan Kumar

Supraja Kumar is a Senior Research Associate at J-PAL South Asia, where she currently leads the implementation of the Incentivizing Sustainable Paddy Cultivation (ISPC) project, across three districts in Karnataka, in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture, Government of Karnataka, and satellite technology partners. Her work focuses on sustainable agricultural practices, particularly Alternate Wetting and Drying (AWD) in paddy cultivation, and its potential to conserve water and reduce methane emissions. She works with farmer- and crop-level data and GIS-based spatial analysis.

Prior to joining J-PAL, Supraja worked as an architect before moving into public policy and development research.

Supraja holds a Master’s in Public Policy, with a focus on environmental policy and spatial data, from the National Law School of India University (NLSIU), Bengaluru, and a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture.
