Tanya Mishra

Tanya Mishra is a Senior Research Associate at J-PAL South Asia. She is currently working on supporting a project at the intersection of education and AI, aimed at developing and estimating the impact of a Foundation Model on the learning outcomes of 8th and 9th grade students in the sample. She has previously worked on a wage insurance experiment to determine the demand and socio-economic impact of ‘hospi-cash’ insurance policy within the informal sector along with implications for influencing nationwide healthcare schemes.

Prior to joining J-PAL, Tanya worked as a consultant with a Maryland-based international development consulting firm on themes of gender and financial inclusion. During these three years, she managed multiple research and policy projects for international and regional organizations across Central Asia and Africa. Her main research interests include labor economics, migration and education intersecting with gender.

Tanya holds a Master’s degree in Global Development Economics from Boston University and Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Miranda House, Delhi University.
