Policy Manager, J-PAL Africa

Yvan Andriameva Assany is a Policy Manager at J-PAL Africa, where he works to advance evidence-based policies and scale up rigorously evaluated programs to improve human capital and promote gender equity in education. Based in Madagascar, he collaborates with and develops strategic partnerships with researchers, governments, donors, and implementing partners to design, adapt, and operationalize interventions at scale, as well as identify opportunities for new rigorous evaluations.

Prior to joining J-PAL, he was a postdoctoral fellow and Research Engineer at the French National Research Institute for Sustainable Development (IRD), where he contributed to a large-scale research project involving two surveys on the Malagasy diaspora, covering both individuals and associations. 

He holds a bachelor’s degree in International Economics and Finance from Panthéon-Assas University, a master’s degree in Development Economics from Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University, and a PhD in Development Economics from PSL Paris-Dauphine University, with research focusing on different aspects of governance in Sub-Saharan Africa.
