Sobia Shadbar

Sobia Shadbar is a Senior Research Associate at J-PAL South Asia, based in Bangalore, where she works with the Social Networks Lab on the Networks & Risk Sharing (NRS) Portfolio. As a member of the Research team, she leads the data pipeline for the NRS long-range panel on networks and risk sharing in rural Odisha and supports field experiments focused on improving uptake of the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY).

Prior to joining J-PAL, Sobia gained five years of research experience across academic, nonprofit, and corporate institutions in India and the United States.

Sobia holds a Bachelor’s degree with honors in Economics and minors in Psychology and Political Science from an institution in India, and a Master’s degree in International Affairs, specialising in Global Economic Affairs and Development Economics, from Boston University.
