Anchal Khandelwal
Research Manager, J-PAL South Asia
Anchal is the Research Manager of the Networks suite of projects in J-PAL South Asia. She specializes in applying quantitative methods to understand behaviors and policy outcomes. Her experience spans roles at NewGlobe, The World Bank, and various academic institutions, where she has led data-driven research on education, behavioral interventions, and economic development. She has co-authored papers on climate law, and behavioral nudges, demonstrating her commitment to translating rigorous research into actionable policy insights.
At J-PAL South Asia, she's currently leading two partnership projects: one to study ways to improve climate resilience among farmers in Odisha, which is embedded in a larger portfolio aiming to build a panel dataset of networks in India. Second, to study the impact of upskilling initiatives to increase labour force participation and entrepreneurship ventures undertaken by the rural youth.
Anchal holds a Master of Science in International and Development Economics from the University of San Francisco, a post graduate diploma in economics from the Meghnad Desai Academy of Economics, and a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Jai Hind College, Mumbai University.
