Ignacio Bau

Ignacio Bau is a Policy and Communications Associate at J-PAL Latin America and the Caribbean (LAC), where he creates communication products to effectively convey policy-relevant evidence and inform policy design and scale decisions. He supports outreach across digital channels, events, and communities of practice, and engages stakeholders in government, civil society, and academia. 

Prior to joining J-PAL in 2025, Ignacio worked with UNESCO’s POLICyT Lab and in Chile’s public sector, including the Child Protection Service and the Council for Transparency, on monitoring, evaluation, and evidence use. He participated in an impact evaluation of a digital assistance platform to increase take-up of a housing rental subsidy.

He holds an MPP and a BA in Political Science from Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile.
