J-PAL Southeast Asia Launch and Policy Workshop

On June 25, J-PAL officially launched its Southeast Asia office at the Institute for Economic and Social Research at the University of Indonesia in Jakarta. The President of the Republic of Indonesia, Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono, offered the keynote address at the launch event, which was attended by over three hundred international and local academics, government officials, and representatives from civil society and international development organizations. Following the launch, J-PAL Southeast Asia hosted its first policy workshop where researchers and policymakers came together to identify the priorities of the new office in poverty, governance, education, and health.
