Tanisha Ghosal
Senior Research Associate, J-PAL South Asia
Tanisha is a Senior Research Associate at J-PAL South Asia where she works on the Breakthrough scale-up project in Odisha called “Taaron Ki Toli” which is a school-based gender equality program targeted at shaping the gender attitudes and behaviours of the adolescent boys and girls.
Prior to joining J-PAL, Tanisha worked as a Research Associate at the Indian School of Business (ISB), Hyderabad where she studied the mechanism through which deep rooted social structures of India, namely, caste and religion, get transmitted to Family Businesses, thereby affecting the performance of Family Firms.
Tanisha holds an M.Sc. in Economics from the University of Warwick, and a B.Sc. (Honours) in Economics from the University of Calcutta. Her M.Sc. dissertation was on evaluating the impact of a conditional cash transfer program called “Kanyashree Prakalpa” implemented by the government of West Bengal to eradicate child marriage and enhance the educational attainment of girls. She has been awarded the Shiv Nath Prize for the best M.Sc. performance in Development Economics by the University of Warwick. Her research interests lie in areas of gender, education, health, and financial inclusion.
