Dean Karlan is the Frederic Esser Nemmers Distinguished Professor of Economics and Finance at Northwestern University. Dean is also the Founder and Former President of Innovations for Poverty Action (IPA), Co-Founder of ImpactMatters. From 2022 to 2025, Dean served as the Chief Economist at the United States Agency for International Development.
Dayanand has served on the review board of J-PAL North America's US State and Local Innovation Initiative
Dean has served on the Executive Committee of the J-PAL Board of Directors. He has also served as a lecturer at J-PAL training events.
