Associate Director - Policy (Scale Ups), J-PAL South Asia

Parikrama Chowdhry is Associate Director, Policy at J-PAL South Asia, where she works on supporting governments to adopt, fund, and sustain evidence-backed solutions at scale. She drives J-PAL South Asia's portfolio on the Graduation Approach. In this role, she has led the collaboration with MoRD and J-PAL’s work on Bihar's SJY scheme, the world's largest government-led Graduation scale-up with an annual outlay of USD 250M reaching millions of people She subsequently contributed to the national launch of the USD 300M Samaveshi Ajeevika Yojana, advancing financial inclusion for India's poorest.

She joined J-PAL in 2022 and has been a core team member that built ASPIRE. ASPIRE scales evidence-based programs with governments - from embedding play-based mathematics into public school systems and integrating gender-sensitive curriculum across 30,000 schools, to scaling the world's first market-based emissions trading scheme. Parikrama holds end-to-end accountability for execution, strategy, fundraising, partner collaboration and a cross-functional team spanning all current and incoming programs under ASPIRE. 

Before moving to the development sector, she worked in ecommerce, in analytics with McKinsey Knowledge center and in Government Advisory with Ernst and Young Pvt. Limited. 

Parikrama holds a postgraduate diploma in management from IIM Indore and an economics honours degree from SRCC, Delhi University.
