Senior Research Associate, J-PAL Latin America and the Caribbean

Jordana Silva is a Senior Research Associate in the Government Partnership Initiative at J-PAL Latin America and the Caribbean. She works on the design and implementation of impact evaluations and monitoring frameworks for socio-environmental and social protection policies. As a member of the Environment, Energy, and Climate Change sector, she focuses on payments for environmental services, land-use and land-cover change, and the integration of administrative and geospatial data to inform evidence-based policymaking. Her work includes developing evaluation strategies, theories of change, and analytical tools for large-scale government programs, as well as supporting partnerships with public agencies and researchers.

Before joining J-PAL in 2024, Jordana worked as a Research Assistant and Consultant with academic institutions, government-affiliated research centers, and sustainability consulting firms in Brazil. She contributed to applied research on regional economic resilience, climate change, and environmental governance. She conducted impact evaluations related to mining activities, environmental disasters, and energy transition projects, applying quasi-experimental designs and spatial panel econometric methods to assess policy impacts and spillover effects.

Jordana holds a PhD in economics from the Federal University of Minas Gerais, an MA in applied economics, and a BA in economics from the Federal University of Ouro Preto.
