About Us
Effectively addressing development challenges requires rigorous evidence to guide policy and program design. As massive public investments are made in development programs in Egypt, optimal program design, targeting, performance management, and speedy and useful monitoring are essential to improve development outcomes. Ensuring the effectiveness of public investments in supporting employment, income generation, and social protection can be supported by using evidence on the impact of programs or policies.
Three pillars of our work
EIL’s work is organized around three pillars that guide how we generate evidence, support its use, and strengthen systems for learning.
Pillar I: Generating evidence on priority questions and disseminating insights on EIL themes
The EIL collaborates closely with strategic partners to identify their key priorities and leverage existing evidence-based insights to inform innovative program designs that align with their development objectives. The EIL team further engages with implementers to ensure program alignment with the evaluated interventions and collaborates with policymakers to integrate research findings into future policy decisions, facilitating the scaling up of effective programs. Pillar II: Building the government's capacity to use evidence
The EIL supports the government in becoming a more substantial producer and user of evidence to inform policy and improve lives. Through tailored capacity-building programs, we work with policymakers, practitioners, researchers, and monitoring and evaluation (M&E) professionals to strengthen their ability to engage with and apply rigorous evidence, particularly from randomized evaluations. Pillar III: Strengthening local knowledge ecosystems to enable policy influence
The EIL strengthens local knowledge ecosystems by creating platforms for peer learning and knowledge exchange that connect policymakers, researchers, and international experts to share best practices.
