Fabián Tobar

Fabián Tobar is a Research Associate at J-PAL LAC, based at the Pontificia Universidad Católica de Chile in Santiago, where he supports randomized evaluations through survey data quality assurance, data cleaning, and statistical analysis in R. As a member of the Research group, he focuses on high-frequency checks for household survey data, reproducible data pipelines, and bilingual reporting to principal investigators and partners.

Prior to joining J-PAL in 2026, he worked as a Research Analyst at Chile's Dirección del Trabajo, the national labor authority, where he produced studies on labor relations, unionization, and collective bargaining.

Fabián holds an MA in political science and a BA in political science from the Universidad de Chile, with complementary training in economics. He is a native Spanish speaker, fluent in English.
