Islam Waheed

Senior Research Operations Associate, J-PAL Middle East and North Africa
Islam Waheed is a Senior Research Operations Associate at J-PAL Middle East and North Africa, where he offers support to field operations for randomized evaluations in Egypt, and contributes to the capacity building of staff as well as partner organization. He keeps track of field activity and oversees all data collection efforts. He also supports survey design. Prior to joining J-PAL, he worked in Community Education in the Misr El Kheir Foundation from 2019 to 2022. Islam was the grant manager for the USAID-funded Literate Village project in 2018, worked as a legal consultant for the prohibition of FGM and children's law in 2012, and worked as a lawyer for the legal empowerment for children USAID funded project, under the National Council for Childhood and Motherhood between 2010 and 2012.
Islam earned a law degree from Assiut University in 2007 and a master's degree in private law and human rights from Menoufia University in 2018. He is a PhD candidate in private international law from the Arab League's Institute of Arab Research & Studies.
