Tanay Chanda

Tanay Chanda is a Senior Research Associate at J-PAL South Asia, where he supports the design and implementation of impact evaluations and monitoring studies in the development sector. As a member of the Research group, he works on SJY – Bihar and TRI – Bihar. His work involves managing field research operations, ensuring data quality and ethical compliance, coordinating with stakeholders, and generating evidence to inform policy and program decisions.

Prior to joining J-PAL, Tanay worked in the development and research sector for seven years, with experience in impact evaluation, monitoring and evaluation, and field-based research. His professional journey has included roles at SUVITA, IWWAGE at KREA University, and the University of Maryland and Georgetown University, where he contributed to strengthening government data systems through the JEEViKA project in Bihar.

Tanay holds an MSc in Development Economics from the University of Sussex.
