About Us
The Egypt Impact Lab (EIL) supports the government in making every Egyptian pound spent on development count by generating rigorous evidence on the effectiveness of public programs and policies. As Egypt invests in initiatives that aim to improve people’s lives, EIL works with government partners to evaluate their impact.
As Egypt’s first government-embedded research lab, EIL is formally integrated into the National Institute for Governance and Sustainable Development (NIGSD) under the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development (MPED), and connected to J-PAL’s global network of more than 1,000 affiliated researchers. EIL generates rigorous evidence on priority policy themes, strengthens the knowledge ecosystem, and builds capacity to use evidence.
