Research Associate, J-PAL Middle East and North Africa

Marc Georgy is a Research Associate at the Egypt Impact Lab (EIL). The EIL is a partnership between J-PAL Middle East and North Africa and the Ministry of Planning and Economic Development in Egypt. At EIL, Marc handles a randomised controlled trial evaluating the impact of a Financial Literacy initiative targeting secondary education students. He also works on the evaluation of the Tahweesha programme implemented by the National Council for Women, with a focus on women’s financial inclusion, digital adoption, and empowerment outcomes. In addition, Marc contributes to the evaluation of the Iqra Arabic literacy programme implemented by the Al Qasimi Foundation in the UAE, measuring early-grade reading outcomes, and supports the CGIAR Research Centers’ Standing Panel on Impact Assessment country study in Egypt by assessing the impact of agricultural innovations and their contribution to sustainable development.

Prior to joining J-PAL in 2025, Marc worked as a Research Analyst at the Synerjies Center for International and Strategic Studies, where he handled economic analysis for projects covering labour markets, education, environment, and strategic management, and produced policy evaluations and analytical reports for governmental and international stakeholders. He also worked with Catholic Relief Services on educational programmes for refugees in Egypt and served as a Researcher at Step2Future MENA, conducting technical research for development initiatives in Egypt.

Marc holds a Master’s degree in Development Economics from Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne and a double Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Cairo University and Université Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne.
