Lina Hatem is a Research Associate at J-PAL Middle East and North Africa at the American University in Cairo, where she works on two randomized evaluations in Egypt—one examining the impact of improving nursery quality, women’s empowerment, and nutrition interventions on early childhood development and women’s labor force participation, and another focused on whether filtered water from treatment units lead to higher adoption rates and better health outcomes.

Prior to joining J-PAL in 2024, she worked as a Strategic Planning Specialist at Nile University, where she supported data analysis, project coordination, and the development of strategic initiatives.

Lina holds a dual Bachelor’s degree in Economics from the British University in Egypt and London South Bank University.
