John McNeil

John is a Policy Associate at J-PAL Global, where he works with the Political Economy and Governance (PEG) and the Agriculture sector. As a member of the Policy and Communications team, he works to translate economic research into actionable poverty alleviation policies around the world.

John has held multiple roles in international development and economic policy. Prior to joining J-PAL in 2026, he worked with the Institute of Economic Affairs – Kenya as a visiting scholar while completing his master’s degree.

John holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Brown University and a Master’s degree in International and Regional Studies, specializing in African studies, from the University of Michigan.
