Lead on Policy & Communications, J-PAL Middle East and North Africa

Nadeen ElAshmawy is the Policy and Communications Lead at J-PAL Middle East and North Africa, where she oversees the full Policy & Communications portfolio. In this role, she leads efforts to translate J-PAL’s research into actionable policy recommendations that address pressing development challenges across the region. She identifies evidence generation opportunities, fosters collaborations between J-PAL affiliated researchers, policymakers, and development practitioners across multiple sectors, and leads the regional expansion of J-PAL MENA’s efforts to embed and scale evidence-informed decision-making in policy and practice.

Prior to joining J-PAL MENA in 2020, she worked as Public Policy Analyst at Moharram & Partners for Public Policy Management and Strategic Communications, and as Research Fellow and Teaching Assistant at Georgetown University. She also worked with the National Council for Women in Egypt, Save the Children, and Care International.

Nadeen holds a Master of Studies in Women’s Studies from the University of Oxford and a Bachelor of Science in Foreign Service from Georgetown University.
