Kyle Murphy

Initiatives Lead, J-PAL Global

Kyle Murphy is the Initiatives Lead at J-PAL Global where he heads J-PAL's funding initiatives. Additionally, Kyle advises J-PAL's agriculture sector and cost-effectiveness analysis teams as well as working with J-PAL LAC on pathway to scale projects. Kyle leads the invited researcher systems within J-PAL, working with the Invited Researcher Selection Committee to expand the diversity and scope of J-PAL's research network. As a member of the Policy and Communications Group leadership, Kyle contributes to the group's strategy and shares lessons on what works with foundations, NGOs, governments and others to them integrate rigorous evidence into their work.

Kyle holds a master's degree in public policy from the University of Michigan’s Ford School of Public Policy where he focused on international development and program evaluation. As a student, he was a Coverdell Fellow, a Dow Sustainability Fellow, and worked with Global Detroit and Recovery Park to help design their social impact monitoring frameworks. He also worked as a research assistant to Prof. Dean Yang studying the links between cultural institutions and economic development in Mexico. Kyle served as an agricultural extensionist and volunteer coordinator for three years with the United States Peace Corps in Nicaragua.
