ADEPT welcomes Mohammed VI Polytechnic University to its network of partner universities

RABAT, MOROCCO — The Alliance for Data, Evaluation, and Policy Training (ADEPT) welcomed Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) to its network of partner universities at an event in Rabat, Morocco.

The event, which brought together participants from UM6P and J-PAL, highlighted the partnership’s shared commitment to expanding academic pathways and strengthening training in data, economics, and evidence-informed policy. The collaboration builds on J-PAL’s longstanding partnership with UM6P, including the Morocco Innovation and Evaluation Lab (MEL), established in partnership with J-PAL at MIT and Harvard’s Center for International Development, and the UM6P-J-PAL Applied Lab for Agriculture (UJALA). Through ADEPT, the partnership expands this collaboration into education and training, creating new opportunities for students to develop the skills needed to apply evidence to policy.

“Expanding the ADEPT network to include UM6P is an important step toward our goal of making high-quality training in economics, quantitative methods, and evidence-informed policy more accessible to students around the world,” said Esther Duflo, 2019 Nobel laureate in economics, J-PAL co-founder, and ADEPT Co-Faculty Director. “By partnering with leading institutions like UM6P, we can strengthen local capacity while creating new pathways for talented students to develop the skills they need to address policy challenges in their own countries and beyond.”

“Thanks to this partnership, students enrolled in our Master's in Economic Analysis and Public Policy (MEAPP) at FGSES-UM6P have the opportunity to complement their training with the DEDP MicroMasters program. This is indeed an opportunity for our students to strengthen the practical and applied dimensions of their training. We are confident that this partnership will further increase our students' visibility on the international academic stage, while reaffirming the position of FGSES and UM6P within a dynamic of collaboration with world-leading academic institutions,” said Karim El Aynaoui, Executive Vice-President of the Social Sciences, Economics and Humanities Cluster at UM6P and Dean of the Faculty of Governance, Economics and Social Sciences (FGSES).

Upon completion of the program, students will receive a Data, Economics, and Design of Policy (DEDP) MicroMasters credential in the International Development track, equipping them with a globally recognized certification to complement their master's studies and accelerate their careers in global development.
