Linking Mobile Money To A Formal Savings Account: Experimental Evidence From Small-Scale Women Agri-Processors In Burkina Faso
This project evaluates how linking mobile money to formal savings accounts can enhance financial inclusion and economic outcomes for women entrepreneurs in Côte d’Ivoire’s small-scale agri-processing sector. Despite their vital role in local economies, many women rely on informal and insecure financing mechanisms. Through a randomized evaluation, researchers test whether mobile-linked savings accounts improve saving behavior, access to credit, and household welfare. The study aims to identify how digital finance can reduce financial risks and expand secure access to capital for women-led enterprises, generating insights to inform scalable solutions for women’s economic empowerment.
