Las iniciativas de J-PAL concentran financiamiento y otros recursos en temas prioritarios que requieren urgentemente investigación rigurosa para las decisiones de política pública. 

Cada iniciativa identifica vacíos relevantes en la evidencia; financia investigación innovadora; y apoya la interacción en materia de políticas entre quienes investigan y quienes formulan políticas para compartir resultados y escalar programas efectivos.
