Policy Manager, J-PAL Southeast Asia

Muhamad Haris Zamaludin Setiadiputra (Haris) is the Evidence to Policy and Evidence to Scale Policy Manager at J-PAL Southeast Asia. He works with governments, the private sector, non-profits, and funders across the region to ensure that rigorous evidence generated by J-PAL-affiliated researchers shapes policy decisions and helps the programs to reach more lives. This includes building policy-relevant research partnerships and initiatives, translating evidence into practical guidance for decision-makers, and supporting partners as they adapt, test, and scale effective programs. His work spans several sectors, including Social Protection; Health; Environment, Energy, and Climate Change (E2C2); Education; and Early Childhood Education and Development (ECED).

Before joining J-PAL in 2021, Haris was a Research Associate at the University of Passau, where he supported a large-scale randomized evaluation testing the effectiveness of interventions that promote sustainable agriculture in Indonesia.

Haris holds a Master of Arts in Governance, Development, and Public Policy from the Institute of Development Studies (IDS) at the University of Sussex, which he completed as a full scholar of the Indonesia Endowment Fund for Education (LPDP). He earned his bachelor's degree from IPB University (Bogor Agricultural University) and studied for a semester at Sophia University, Japan
