Paul C.J. Berthe

Paul is Communications Manager at J-PAL Africa, where he leads the office’s communications strategy and implementation. He works across all portfolios and with the broader office team to guide the planning and development of editorial content, message framing, web features, email engagement, social media, and other external communications.

In addition to his role at J-PAL Africa, Paul is pursuing a PhD in Communications at Columbia University. His research includes leading a randomized controlled trial assessing the impact of a media intervention on reducing HIV-related stigma among youth in South Africa. He holds an M.A. in International Development from Sciences Po Paris, graduating magna cum laude, and a B.A. in Economics and International Development from McGill University.
