Community of Practice for Gender Equality and Evidence Use webinar: Gender Violence Programs Targeting Men

J-PAL LAC’s Community of Practice (CoP) for Gender Equality and Evidence Use goal is to bring together government officials, researchers, non-governmental organizations (NGOs) and civil society to tackle the structural barriers that prevent the empowerment of girls and women in LAC.
The CoP holds periodic meetings where J-PAL presents evidence and participants get to share knowledge, best practices, and strategies to promote gender equality and increase the social and economic opportunities available to women and girls in these countries. By bringing together different perspectives and expertise, the community works to create sustainable and impactful solutions that promote the empowerment and well-being of women in the region.
The third gathering of the CoP will take place on September 23 at 1 PM ET time, online, via Zoom, to explore programs that work to engage men in preventing gender-based violence. The event will open with an evidence-sharing presentation drawing on insights from randomized evaluations on the topic by Ana Maria Colina. This will be followed by a panel discussion, where Erica Field (J-PAL Affiliate Professor, Duke University) will share her experience evaluating such programs, and Isabel Viana (SEMUJERES) and Hugo Barbosa (GENDES) will reflect on the challenges faced and lessons learned in implementing initiatives targeted at men. Finally, we will have space for questions from the audience.
