Summary of the Organization:

The Wilson Sheehan Lab for Economic Opportunities (LEO) at the University of Notre Dame is a research center dedicated to reducing poverty and improving lives in the United States through evidence-based programs and policies.

Summary of the Role:

We are looking for someone who wants to change the face of poverty in our country and believes that impacting poverty is possible.

The Research Project Manager’s top priorities will be:

  • Drive a portfolio of exploratory and developing projects through LEO’s project development process, acting as the main project manager up until the point of project launch.
  • Bridge the gap between providers and researchers by gathering researcher input on potential research designs and working with providers to adjust research design, as necessary, to ensure that all LEO projects have well-defined interventions, measurable outcomes, sufficient sample sizes, and unbiased comparison groups.
  • Liaise between researchers, service providers, and marketing consultants (e.g., JoyBrand) to ensure all projects have a well-designed recruitment plan.
  • Execute all developing phase tasks required to launch a research project, including but not limited to submitting IRB protocols, drafting data sharing agreements, and completing pre-analysis plans.
  • Ensure a strong project hand-off to a LEO Research Associate at the point of project launch with a focus on relationship maintenance and project momentum.

The Research Project Manager owns the achievement of LEO’s research design goals. The ideal candidate will have project management skills as well as strong understanding of the research process in a social science setting. 

Required: 

  • A deep commitment to the mission of both LEO and the University 
  • Undergraduate degree in Economics, Business, or related social science field 
  • Highly organized with ability to juggle multiple demands simultaneously
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Self-directed, with willingness to take initiative over project tasks and explore potential evaluations

Preferred:

  • Experience working with economic researchers as a research assistant
  • Experience working for or with social service providers
