Robert Fairlie is a Distinguished Professor of Public Policy and Economics at the University of California, Los Angeles. His research focuses on public policy, entrepreneurship, education, racial and gender inequality, information technology, labor economics, developing countries, and immigration.

Robert also serves as a Research Associate at the National Bureau of Economic Research and is affiliated with the California Center for Population Research and the California Policy Lab. Prior to joining UCLA, he was a professor at the University of California, Santa Cruz. He is a two-time recipient of the Bradford-Osborne research award, and has received the Choice Academic Title award and a joint resolution from the California State Assembly and Senate commending his work.

Robert holds a PhD in economics from Northwestern University.
