Sebastian Galiani

OLD BIO:
Sebastian Galiani is a Professor of Economics at the University of Maryland. He is also a fellow of the National Bureau of Economic Research (NBER) and Bureau for Research and Economic Analysis of Development (BREAD). He also serves as Scientific Director of J-PAL LAC and a member of the Executive Committee of J-PAL at MIT.

Sebastian works in the areas of Development Economics, Health Economics and Applied Microeconomics. He is associate editor of the Journal of Development Economics and the Journal of Economic Behavior and Organization. Sebastian has published papers in the Journal of Political Economy, Quarterly Journal of Economics, American Economic Journal: Applied Economics, American Economic Journal: Economic Policy, Review of Economics and Statistics, Journal of Public Economics, Journal of Development Economics, and Journal of International Economics, among others. His work has been featured in Science, The Economist, The Wall Street Journal, The Times and various other newspapers around the world. Sebastian has also worked as a consultant for the Gates Foundation, United Nations, Inter-American Development Bank, World Bank, and the governments of Argentina, Mexico, Panama and South Africa. Galiani served as co-chair of J-PAL’s Health Sector from 2010-2014.

Sebastian obtained his PhD in Economics from Oxford University.
