Paolo Marsicovétere
Senior Research Associate - Guatemala, J-PAL Latin America and the Caribbean
Paolo Marsicovetere is a Senior Research Associate at J-PAL LAC, where he supports the field implementation of a pilot study on the Beca Artesano Program, an initiative of Guatemala’s Ministry of Social Development aimed at improving economic opportunities through skills development and productive inclusion. He works closely with the research team, government counterparts, and local implementation partners to coordinate field activities and ensure high-quality data collection in preparation for a future experimental evaluation.
Prior to joining J-PAL, Paolo worked with the World Food Programme as a Senior Analyst in the Research, Assessment and Monitoring Unit in Guatemala, where he led food security assessments and thematic studies to inform intervention design. He has also worked as a consultant for the International Organization for Migration and the Guatemalan Data Laboratory, and as a Research Assistant at the Central American Institute for Fiscal Studies. In addition, he has been a long-term volunteer with TECHO. His experience combines large-scale data systems design and analysis with the coordination of multi-stakeholder initiatives to inform public policy.
Paolo holds a bachelor’s degree in physics and a master’s degree in Local Economic Development and Development Research Methodologies from Universidad del Valle de Guatemala. He also holds a MicroMasters Certificate in Data, Economics, and Development Policy from MITx.
