Organization Description:

The Abdul Latif Jameel Poverty Action Lab (J-PAL) J-PAL was established in 2003 as a research center at the Economics Department at MIT. Since then, it has grown into a global network of researchers who use randomized evaluations to answer critical policy questions in the fight against poverty. J-PAL is propelled by a first-rate team dedicated to research, policy, training, and other vital work, supporting J-PAL's mission to reduce poverty by ensuring that policy is informed by scientific evidence. J-PAL South Asia, which is based at the Institute for Financial Management and Research (IFMR) in India, analyses and disseminates research results and builds partnerships with policymakers to ensure that policy is driven by evidence, and that programs proven effective are scaled up. We have a growing number of partnerships in Bangladesh, India, Nepal, and Sri Lanka.

Role Overview:

The Human Resource Intern will work closely with the HR Associate, HR Manager, Head HR and other team members and support them in streamlining the employee file management process by sorting, auditing, and digitizing employee files, ensuring accuracy, accessibility, and compliance. The intern should embody and demonstrate great attention to details, organizational skills, problem solving skills, who works well in a team, and fantastic documentation skills

Key Responsibilities:

  • Sort employee files based on a predefined criterion and establish a standardized naming convention.
  • Conduct an audit of sorted files to ensure completeness, accuracy, and compliance with company policies.
  • Digitize sorted and audited employee files, ensuring secure storage and easy accessibility for HR staff.
  • Other duties as assigned or required.

Structure and Reporting:

The HR intern will report to the Associate HR and will be expected to work in close cooperation with HR Manager other members of the HR team.

Required Education: 

  • Master’s degree in Human Resource Management, Business Administration (MBA) with a specialization in HR, or similar relevant degree

Required professional experience:

  • 0-1 years of relevant HR experience, in an organization of repute.
  • Proficiency with MS Excel, MS Powerpoint and Google office.
  • Demonstrated successful experience working with detailed information and numerical data and presenting it in a way that is easily understood by people at different levels in the organization.
  • Basic data analysis and presentation skills.
