Aimee Barnes is a Policy Manager at J-PAL Global where she manages the Health sector and oversees the delivery of the Evidence for AI in Health (EVAH) initiative, a US$60 million commitment to support real-world impact evaluations of AI-enabled health tools in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs). As a member of the Policy and Communications group, Aimee works with governments, NGOs, academics, technology partners, and others to build partnerships to advance the use of evidence in policymaking. Aimee previously supported the Crime, Violence, and Conflict and Political Economy and Governance sectors and managed the Crime and Violence Initiative to support the generation of new experimental evidence on what works to combat crime, violence, and conflict in LMICs.

Prior to joining J-PAL in 2020, Aimee worked as a research analyst at a technology consulting firm where she monitored changes in international telecommunications policy. Aimee has also worked as a graduate-level econometrics teaching assistant and as an economist trainee with the US Department of Transportation. 

Aimee holds a Master’s in International Affairs from the University of California San Diego’s School of Global Policy and Strategy, where she graduated with her degree program’s Academic Achievement Award and Dean’s Teaching Award. She received her Bachelor’s in international economics from the University of California San Diego and graduated magna cum laude.
