Augustin Bergeron is an Assistant Professor of economics at the University of Southern California. His research interests are at the intersection of development economics, public economics, and political economy. His research explores the determinants of state capacity with an emphasis on taxation. He also studies the origins of social ties and beliefs and their effects on development. He conducts fieldwork in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, where he helps manage a research organization called Odeka. Augustin graduated from Harvard University with a PhD in political economy and government.
