Overview and Description

The "Bridging Health Systems Knowledge Exchange Webinar Series" is a government-to-government learning initiative organized by the Egypt Impact Lab (EIL), in collaboration with Egypt's Universal Health Insurance Authority (UHIA) and the World Health Organization (WHO) in Egypt. The series aims to facilitate meaningful policy dialogue and knowledge-sharing on key topics related to Universal Health Coverage.

Webinar 1: Benefit Package Design

The first session will focus on Benefit Package Design, featuring international experiences and technical reflections on how countries design and update their service packages under national health insurance systems, with a spotlight on the Chilean experience. The session will bring together policymakers, technical experts, and development partners to:

  • Share policy experiences from Chile and other global contexts
  • Discuss challenges and priorities in Egypt’s benefit package development
  • Explore actionable strategies for adapting global lessons to the Egyptian context

Webinar 2: Health Intervention and Technology Assessment Programs

This second session will feature the Health Intervention and Technology Assessment Program (HITAP), sharing insights from Thailand’s application of HTA to design and update benefit packages. The session will bring together policymakers, technical experts, and development partners to:

  • Share policy experiences and practical examples from Thailand and beyond
  • Discuss how HTA can inform Egypt’s benefit package design and decision-making
  • Explore actionable strategies to strengthen evidence-based policymaking for Egypt’s UHIS rollout
