Policy Associate, J-PAL Global
Michael Hou is a Policy Associate at J-PAL Global, where he works on the Firms and Finance sectors. In this role, he synthesizes evidence to write policy publications and helps develop research partnerships. He also supports the Firms-side of the Jobs and Opportunity Initiative.
Prior to joining J-PAL in 2022, Michael served as a Peace Corps Volunteer in Albania. As a graduate student, Michael worked as a teaching and research assistant in economics and public policy, focusing on energy access in Africa. He also interned on the Structured Finance team at the U.S. International Development Finance Corporation.
Michael holds a master’s degree in public policy from the Duke University Sanford School of Public Policy. He received his bachelor’s degree in business from the New York University Stern School of Business, where he also attended an exchange program at Copenhagen Business School and participated in international business courses in Hong Kong and India.
